Some countries have legal ages at which people can drink. Other countries believe not having strict laws is a better policy. Discuss both sides and give your opinion.

Many countries adopt different ways to discourage people from indulging in certain activities. Many countries have enacted a legal age for drinking while other nations contend that it is better to lift such regulations. There are some valid arguments for both views. In my opinion, all countries should increase the legal age for drinking to discourage drinking.

Nations that have a legal age to drink emphasize the inability of youngsters to take mature decisions in their lives. Many young people drink out of curiousness and without knowing that these are addictive. Not only they would fall into more compulsive consumption but also may find it hard to break this habit. Hence, it is necessary to implement age restrictions to discourage them from consuming alcohol. This is particularly true given that the youngsters in countries having higher age restrictions on drinking are reported to have less alcohol dependency in later years.

Nonetheless, many people suggest that it is more effective to avoid any regulations on age for drinking. Even if such restrictions are established, young people who are below the legal age still could get drinks by other means. Rather than enforcing strict laws, youngsters could be given autonomy over their decisions. Subsequently, they might feel empowered to take control of their lives and act considering their responsibilities and their best interests.

In conclusion, many nations have imposed stricter age restrictions on drinking, but some others are of the perception that the best alternative is to not have any regulations. Although both views have some legitimate arguments, in my perspective, nations should enact a high legal age-bar to limit alcohol consumption.
