Everyone has the right to protect against any unfair practices at their workplace. Although many are of the perception that all employees have the right to strike, others contend that some jobs should be exempt from this. In my opinion, all employees could condemn against any unfairness they face, but calling on for strikes should be a final measure.
Proponents of strikes in all jobs emphasize their positive implications on the well-being of the workers. By calling on strikes, people expect resolutions from concerned authorities to their issues that may include meagre wages, unsafe work environments or any mistreatment. If they don’t choose to strike against such issues, then the employer may continue the discrimination and more employees would suffer. There are instances where people are forced to do unsafe work fearing the loss of their jobs.
Nonetheless, it is perceived by many that there are certain jobs that should refrain from going on strikes. These include professions in healthcare, administration, food as well as law and order. If employees involved in these works go on strikes, not only would this impact the essential services but also can have major consequences like loss of lives, properties, or even national security. Therefore, when professions in these fields go on strike, they disregard their moral obligations to society.
In conclusion, there is a widely held belief that all employees could strike in all jobs, but many oppose this view. In my perspective, every worker could express their disapproval to any mistreatment at their workplace; however, labor strikes should only be a last resort.
