In the future all the cars, buses and trucks will be driverless. The only people travelling inside these vehicles will be passengers. Do you think the advantages of driverless vehicle outweigh the disadvantage?
Due to the technological advancements, it is believed that most of the vehicles will be driverless in future. If that is the case, then the passengers in them will be the only travelers. Despite the convenience automated cars offer, I contend that the disadvantages outweigh presently as there are many safety concerns prevalent to this technology that need to be addressed primarily.
Proponents of driverless cars contend on the unparallel convenience of such vehicles. Without putting in extra efforts, the travelers could simply give commands to the car which takes them to the desired destination. Not only this will eliminate the requirement of dedicated drivers in future but also can be relied to work round the clock. This is particularly beneficial when taking long rides where passengers could simply rest and avoid tensions over driving continuously for long.
However, particularly in the recent times, there have been growing concerns on the safety of this development. Since automated cars rely on various technologies like Artificial Intelligence and GPS, where a failure to any system can have negative consequences. Recently, an accident occurred when a driverless car went off its course due to an error in its GPS system. How can we enjoy rides when there are potential risks of mishaps? Therefore, this development still has a long way of scientific experimentation and research ahead as to mitigate the risks involved.
In conclusion, technology-driven vehicles are expected to take over its manual counterparts in the future because of the comfort they deliver to the travelers. But the disadvantages overshadow all advantages as there are potential safety concerns to both the passengers and the pedestrians which needs to be addressed before commercialization.
