Today, there are many media channels that dedicatedly share the lives of the popular icons including sports stars and film actors. Many people contend against such broadcasts being shown in the public. In this essay, I strongly support this view emphasizing its moral and social implications.
Showcasing the private lives of celebrities is an infringement to their individual privacies as such contents are mostly shared without their consent. All over the world, it is quite normal for many common people to be profoundly interested in the lives of their favourite actors or sporting professionals. To earn money, media channels tap into these curiosities and follow the popular stars everywhere undermining their privacy. This is particularly true with many online channels in India where they leak the dating images or the holidaying videos of the top-actors.
Moreover, younger children are greatly influenced by their favourite celebrities which could lead to adverse consequences. They prefer to be like their superstars and hence, binge watch the celebrity contents to blindly copy their lives. However, many of the popular figures live a life that is far from being exemplary in anyway. There are media reports of many actors from fighting in public or using abusive languages to serious allegations including substance abuses and misogyny. Hence, many young children might get negatively influenced when they watch and copy such wrongdoings into their lives.
In conclusion, it is perceived by many people that the private lives of celebrities should be restricted from being shared in the public. In this essay, I contend this view to be legitimate as the growing trend of exposing personal lives in the media possess both moral and societal concerns.
