The growth of online shopping will one-day lead to all shops in towns and cities closing. Do you agree or disagree?
The present times have witnessed a surge in people preferring online shopping over conventional shopping. Many are of the perception that this uprise of internet shopping can make the common shops obsolete. Despite the perks that online shopping offers, I would contend that the shops can still sustain alongside online shopping due to their greater opportunities in customer satisfaction.
Proponents of online shopping believe that the idea of conventional shops would become obsolete with people preferring only internet shopping. This is particularly true given the fact that people could now open a website, browse over thousands of products and shop at their convenience of homes. With conventional shopping, this can be a day’s struggle- travel to the shop, parking vehicle and looking only through what the shop currently has at the moment. Consequently, more people can hence switch to online experience for convenience.
Nonetheless, tangible merits in customer experience that common shops offer are far superior to online shopping. Consumer satisfaction is pivotal in any business and conventional shops offer a human experience where a real person listens to their needs, clears the doubts, and guides them to the product of their need. Instead of relying on reviews that could be fake, people could feel the product in their hand and make the final verdict if the product serves them after all. Therefore, normal shops will continue to exist even with internet shopping getting popular.
In conclusion, many believe that the online shopping industry have flourished to an extend where it could possibly take down conventional shops; however, I believe that this possibility is negligible as local shops have more potential to deliver a better customer experience.
